“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28

Empowering Minds. Transforming Lives. Rebuilding Destinies.

When faith leaves a wound, we help you heal.

Too many people went looking for hope and found harm instead. The Enlightened Tribe Foundation walks with survivors of spiritual manipulation, exploitation, and abuse — and extends practical compassion to the orphan, the widow, and the vulnerable — restoring dignity, stability, and peace, with no conditions and no price.

Why we exist

A particular kind of pain — being hurt in the one place you believed was safe.

From woundedness and broken trust, through the cross, to healing and community

Across the world, people are quietly carrying wounds they were told they should never have. They trusted, and that trust was used against them. Many still love God — yet the thought of a church, a service, a familiar song can fill them with a fear they cannot always explain.

Some lost money they could not afford to give. Some lost their families and communities. Some lost years of their lives, or their very sense of who they were. And almost all were told the same things: to endure it, not to question it, that their suffering was simply God's will.

We exist to say, gently but without flinching, that this was never the heart of Christ — and to walk with those it left behind for as long as it takes. And because that same heart cares for the least among us, we extend our hands to the orphan, the widow, the homeless, and the forgotten.

Our mission

Help us save and reach 100,000,000 souls for Christ.

A continent of the wounded, the deceived, and the forgotten is waiting. Stand with us, and help carry the truth to every one of them.

How we help

What the Enlightened Tribe Foundation provides.

I thought no one would believe me. I thought I had to carry it alone.

This is the fear we answer — not with words, but with action. We believe survivors. When someone finally finds the courage to speak, they are not interrogated or doubted or told to simply forgive and move on. They are heard.

We believe true faith liberates rather than controls. So we help people rebuild it, on their own terms, and we never impose it. We are not against the church. We are against what was done to you under His name.

No one should have to carry this alone.

Whether you need support, or you want to make this care possible for someone else — there is a place for you here.

Our story

We did not arise to build another institution.

We arose because too many people had been crushed inside the ones that already exist — and because someone had to stand with them.

Founding declaration

We are here for the believer who was wounded while reaching for hope. For the sincere heart that loved God deeply and was broken by people who claimed to speak for Him. For the family drained of everything under the promise of a blessing that never came. We have seen what was done to them, and we have decided that we will not look away.

What we have witnessed is not a loss of faith in God. It is something quieter and more painful — a loss of trust in those who spoke in His name. We have watched devotion turned into control, generosity turned into extortion, and sacred spaces turned into places of fear rather than refuge. And we refuse to accept that this is simply how things are.

So we want to be clear about who we are. We are not against the church. We are against the exploitation of the trusting and the cruelty that hides behind the language of holiness. Our purpose is not to pull people away from faith — it is to help them find their way back to one that does not wound them.

This is not rebellion. It is restoration. And we will not rest until the broken have found rest, the deceived have recovered their clarity, the exploited have regained their dignity, and faith becomes life-giving again for those who suffered most in its name.

To everyone still carrying this in silence, wondering whether anyone sees what they have endured: we see you, we believe you, and you will not walk alone again.
Who leads this work

Accountable by design.

An organization built to free people from unaccountable authority must itself be visibly accountable. So we tell you who we are.

What we do

Help that meets you where you are.

We work primarily online, reaching people wherever they are — including those who could not safely seek help openly. Our care is organized around five connected areas, from healing after spiritual abuse to practical compassion for the most vulnerable. You may take only what you need, and you are always welcome to return.

01

Support & Counseling

A confidential first contact where you share as much or as little as you wish. Access to trauma-informed mental-health professionals experienced in religious harm, moderated peer support, and — only if you ask for it — gentle companionship in rebuilding a healthy faith.

02

Safe Refuge & Crisis Response

Help thinking through safety and next steps when preparing to leave, connection to vetted local shelters, and carefully governed emergency assistance for urgent needs during a crisis exit.

03

Rebuilding Life

The longer work after the crisis: stability with housing, work, and documents; education and skills; financial confidence for those drained by giving demands; and rebuilding a sense of belonging beyond the group that caused harm.

04

Advocacy & Prevention

Clear, non-sensational education on how spiritual abuse works, practical discernment resources, consent-based survivor storytelling, and partnership with churches and clinicians who want to make faith communities safer.

05

Care for the Vulnerable

Practical compassion for orphans, widows, the homeless, and the less privileged — extending the same dignity and support beyond our recovery work to those most in need.

The path through our care

Yours to walk, at your pace.

A typical path runs from first contact, to immediate safety, to ongoing counseling, to the longer work of rebuilding — and, entirely optionally, to spiritual restoration. But no one is required to follow this sequence.

Everything we offer operates under fixed commitments: our services are free and unconditional, your confidentiality is protected, you consent to each step and control your own pace, we work within our competence and refer onward when something exceeds it, and we never use your story without your explicit permission.

The Enlightened Tribe Movement

Testing every teaching against the Word of God.

The Enlightened Tribe Movement exists to bring false teaching into the light and to test every doctrine against the Word of God. Like the Bereans in the book of Acts, who examined the Scriptures to see whether what they were told was true, we refuse to accept manipulation dressed as the gospel — and we equip believers to recognise it for themselves.

If the Foundation is the hand that heals, the Movement is the voice that warns. It is the teaching and awareness heart of our work — born more than a decade ago and carried since by its founder, Proff Ex, whose Scripture-centred message has gathered a community of over 2.4 million people across his platforms. The Foundation was established to give this work a lasting, accountable home, so that conviction could become concrete action.

Where the work stands

A roadmap, not a slogan.

Our journey moves on two horizons at once — the work alive today, and the larger vision we are building toward.

What we're doing now

Ongoing
  • Bringing false teaching into the light across every medium available to us.
  • Testing what is preached against the true Word of God — as the Bereans did, examining the Scriptures for themselves.
  • Encouraging those wounded by false institutions to speak, so their voices raise awareness and protect others.
  • Holding Bible study sessions that feed the spirit with the Word.
  • Raising funds to make the next stage of the vision possible.
The journey so far

What has already been built.

A decade of teaching, and a growing community

What began as one voice has grown into a community of more than 2.4 million people, drawn together by a message that puts Scripture above personality.

More than five books authored

Founder Proff Ex has written over five books to teach, awaken, and enlighten believers — turning conviction into resources people can hold and study.

The Enlightened Tribe Foundation established

The Foundation was registered to give the movement a lawful, accountable home — the structure through which every strategic plan can now be carried out.

Free books distributed across Africa

Copies have been shared freely in communities across the continent.

Feeding schemes for homeless children

Providing regular meals to children living on the streets, meeting urgent need with practical, consistent care.

Food parcels for orphans and widows

Distributing food parcels to orphans and widows in poorer communities, so that compassion reaches those most often forgotten.

Mobility support for the physically challenged

Supplying wheelchairs and crutches to people living with physical challenges, restoring movement, independence, and dignity.

Safe passage home for over 300 people

When rising tensions in South Africa left many African foreign nationals afraid and stranded, the Foundation stepped in with the spirit of Ubuntu. We funded four buses — one to Malawi and three to Zimbabwe — carrying more than 300 people safely home, and provided food packages to sustain them for three days during their stay in the camps. A response born not of politics, but of compassion.

Lives changed, and people set free

Countless people have come forward to share how they were helped, and some have found the strength to leave institutions that were harming them. That this work draws opposition from those it challenges is, in its own way, evidence of the difference it is making.

Help carry this work forward.

The next stage — recovery centres, the Enlightened Studio, awareness across a continent — depends on people who believe truth is worth defending.

Our initiatives

Taking the vision global.

These are the campaigns that will carry this work beyond a screen and beyond one voice — to reach more souls, save more victims, heal more of the wounded, and awaken a continent. This is how a movement becomes unstoppable.

Initiative One

The Enlightened Tribe Studio

Where silence becomes a voice.

For too long, the wounded have been told to keep quiet. The Enlightened Tribe Studio exists to hand them a microphone instead. We are building a network of recording studios across multiple nations — safe, professional spaces where survivors can tell their stories, where testimonies become documentaries, where Scripture is taught without manipulation, and where podcasts and films carry the truth further than any single voice could travel alone.

Every studio is a place where a person who was once silenced becomes someone others cannot ignore. One survivor's story, captured well, can reach the exact person sitting alone tonight believing no one would understand. This is how we turn private pain into public protection — one recorded voice at a time.

Your support builds the rooms, the equipment, and the training that turn a survivor's courage into a message the whole continent can hear.

Initiative Two

Cape to Cairo

The gospel of truth, carried by road — the length of a continent.

Two thousand years ago, the Apostle Paul did not wait for people to come to him. He went — city to city, road by road — carrying the truth in person. Cape to Cairo follows that ancient model. Proff Ex and the team will journey overland across Africa, from the southern tip to the far north, holding awareness campaigns, distributing the awakening books freely, and reaching the millions who will never see a single one of our online posts.

The people most trapped by spiritual exploitation are often the very ones with no internet, no platform, and no way to hear that help exists. They are not reached by a screen. They are reached by someone who shows up. Cape to Cairo is us showing up — for the forgotten villages, the unreached towns, and the souls the digital world leaves behind.

Your support fuels the journey — the vehicles, the books, the campaigns — that carries hope to the people no algorithm will ever find.

Initiative Three

Spiritual Rehabilitation Centres

A safe place to find your way back.

There is a kind of breaking that happens quietly. A believer gives faithfully for years, trusts completely, and pours out their time, their money, and their hope, holding on to the promise of a breakthrough that always seems to be just around the corner. They endure, they sacrifice, they wait — believing with all their heart that they are doing it for God. And then the truth arrives, and everything collapses at once. The years that cannot be returned. The trust that was taken advantage of. The breakthrough that never came. The slow, crushing realization that the hope they clung to was never real.

The Spiritual Rehabilitation Centres exist for that person. We are establishing safe places, in every nation we can reach, where the misled, the misguided, and the spiritually exhausted can come and simply breathe. Here, trusted mentors and caring spiritual leaders walk beside each broken believer — not to control them, not to recruit them, but to help them heal, find their footing, and rediscover a faith that was never meant to wound them.

Some who come have been exploited, lied to, and drained for years, and they break down the moment they finally see it clearly. Others simply cannot bear to carry it alone any longer, and what they need most is a brother or sister to sit with them, to listen, and to remind them they are not abandoned. Healing rarely happens in isolation — it happens in the presence of people who understand. That is what these centres are: a room where no one has to pretend, and no one has to heal alone.

Your support builds these places of refuge — the rooms, the mentors, and the quiet hours of companionship that bring a broken believer back from the edge.

Initiative Four

Food & Family Support Program

Compassion that meets real needs.

Faith is not only words — it shows itself in practical care for the vulnerable. We believe no one should face hunger, loss, or crisis alone. Guided by Proverbs 19:17 — “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done” — this program puts that conviction into action, reaching struggling individuals and families with direct, dignified help.

We provide feeding schemes for the homeless, monthly food parcels for orphaned children, and emergency relief for families in crisis. We stand with single mothers, widows, and fatherless households, and we step in with seasonal assistance during the hardest times of the year.

The result is immediate relief, restored dignity, and families given the stability to stand again.

Your support becomes a warm meal, a food parcel, and a lifeline for a family with nowhere else to turn.

Initiative Five

The Radical Voices Initiative

Because this was never meant to be one man's fight.

Proff Ex cannot be a lone wolf in this wilderness, and he was never meant to be. Across all 54 nations of Africa, there are believers with fire in their hearts and truth on their tongues — people aching to speak for the voiceless and expose what preys on the faithful — held back by one thing only: resources.

The Radical Voices Initiative changes that. As a pilot, we aim to identify and equip at least five voices in every African nation — providing funding support and a content-creation starter pack to those with the courage and conviction to join the work. We are raising a generation of awakened storytellers, so the message does not rise or fall on one person, but echoes from hundreds of voices, in every language, on every platform, across every border.

This is how a movement becomes unstoppable: not by one loud voice, but by many that cannot be silenced. Protecting souls and preserving the integrity of the gospel is the work of the whole Body — and we are inviting the Body to rise.

Your support becomes the seed fund that turns ordinary believers with limited means into bold, equipped voices for the voiceless.

Apply: The Radical Voices Initiative

If you have the conviction to speak for the voiceless and the heart to join this work, we want to hear from you. This is a pilot program — places are limited, and selection is subject to available funds and to the terms and conditions of the initiative.

Before you apply, please note: applicants should have an active social media presence with a following of at least 1,000, a genuine alignment with our mission, and a willingness to create content that raises awareness and speaks truth. Meeting the minimum does not guarantee selection.

Every initiative needs people who believe.

Whether you give, you go, or you raise your voice — there is a place for you in this work.

Volunteer

Lend your hands to the work.

This was never meant to be one person's fight. Whatever your gift — your time, your skill, your voice, or simply your willingness — there is a place for you here. Tell us how you would like to help, and we will find where you fit.

Join as a volunteer

Select the areas you would like to help with — choose as many as you wish — and tell us a little about yourself. A member of our team will reach out about where your gifts are most needed.

Safeguarding & transparency

We hold ourselves to the standard we ask of others.

The people we serve were harmed by those who refused to be questioned. So we choose to be open about how we protect them — and about the limits of what we can promise.

We believe survivors — and we protect them

A trained, named Safeguarding Lead holds responsibility for keeping the people we serve safe. Everyone in contact with survivors is screened and vetted before that contact begins.

Confidentiality, honestly explained

Confidentiality is our firm default. But we will never make a promise we cannot keep: where there is serious risk to your life, risk to a child, or a legal duty to report, we may have to act. You deserve to know these limits before you share anything — and you always will.

We work within our competence

Clinical counseling is provided by licensed professionals or trusted referral partners — never by untrained volunteers, however compassionate. When a need exceeds our role, we refer onward, including to emergency services when safety is at risk.

Your data is yours

We collect only what we need, store it securely, and let you request your information or its removal. We take care that contact with us cannot expose anyone still living alongside the person harming them.

Financial transparency

Our survivors were harmed financially by people claiming moral authority. So we keep proper accounts, separate oversight of spending from its handling, and publish a yearly summary of what we received and how it was used. No donation is ever tied to an expectation placed on a survivor.

We can be questioned

Anyone — survivor, supporter, or staff — can raise a concern or challenge a decision, and there is a clear process for what happens next. The willingness to be questioned is, for us, the values of our founding lived out.

You are safe here

What happened to you was not your fault.

If you are reading this, you may already have endured more than most people around you will ever understand. You may feel confused, ashamed, angry, numb, or simply exhausted. You may still love God deeply, yet feel afraid of anything that resembles religion. You may be questioning everything you were taught. You may worry that no one will believe you, or even fear that speaking up is somehow wrong.

Please hear this clearly, because it is true: you are not weak. You are not broken. And what happened to you was not your fault. You do not need the perfect words. You do not need to defend your story or prove anything to anyone. You only need to take one small step, whenever you are ready — and not a moment before.

We exist for you

We exist specifically for people who have experienced — including, but not limited to:

  • Spiritual manipulation or control
  • Financial exploitation in the name of faith
  • Emotional or psychological abuse
  • Sexual abuse or coercion
  • Ritualized harm or degrading practices
  • Intimidation disguised as spiritual authority
  • Isolation from family or support systems
  • Fear of punishment for leaving

If you still believe in God but don't know how to trust again, that is okay.

If you are angry, that is okay.

If you are unsure what you believe now, that is okay too.

Your journey belongs to you. We are simply here to walk beside you. You survived — now you deserve to recover. You are not alone anymore.

What you can expect from us

We listen

Without interruption, without suspicion. You will be believed.

We never rush you

You will never be told to simply forgive and move on, or pressured to return to anything that hurt you.

We protect your privacy

What you share is held with care and confidentiality, within the honest limits we explain openly.

It is always free

No payment, no membership, no loyalty owed to anyone. Only the chance to help you heal.

Browsing safely: if you are not alone, consider using your browser's private window when visiting this site, and emailing from an account only you can access. Remember that your browser keeps a history of pages you visit, which you can clear in your browser settings.

Reaching us, safely

When you feel ready, you can contact us confidentially. There is no form to fill in here, and the website does not store anything you write — your first conversation happens privately, with a real person who is trained to listen.

Email us confidentially

You do not need to use your real name. You can write as much or as little as you like — even just "I need someone to talk to." If you are not alone, consider emailing from an account only you can access. You can also read how we protect your information in our Privacy Policy.

Why your support matters

You can be the reason someone is not alone.

Every day, sincere people are harmed in the very places they went seeking hope — not because they lacked faith, but because their trust was exploited. When they finally leave, they often lose nearly everything at once. This is where your support changes everything.

Because of people like you, there is somewhere for them to go. Your generosity makes possible the confidential spaces where a survivor can finally speak without fear. It funds the counseling that helps a traumatized person feel human again. It provides emergency help for someone fleeing tonight, and the patient work of rebuilding a stable life in the months that follow.

When you give, you are not simply funding programs. You are interrupting a cycle of harm that has gone unchallenged for too long. You are the reason someone finds safety instead of silence, healing instead of shame, and a way forward instead of collapse.

Privacy policy

Your privacy, treated with the seriousness it deserves.

The people who come to us have already had their trust broken once. We will not do it again. This page explains, in plain language, what information we hold, why, and the rights you have over it.

Who we are

The Enlightened Tribe Foundation is a registered nonprofit in South Africa (registration number 2025/753793/08). For any question about your privacy or this policy, you can reach us at info@theenlightenedtribe.com.

The information we hold

We deliberately collect as little as possible. If you contact us for support, we hold only what you choose to share with us — which may include a name (real or chosen), a contact method you have told us is safe, and whatever you decide to tell us about your situation. You are never required to give your real identity to receive help.

If you donate, your payment is handled entirely by our donation provider, PayPal, not by this website. We do not see or store your card details. We may receive your name and the amount given, for our records and any receipt.

How we use it

We use your information only to provide the support or service you have asked for, to keep you and others safe, to manage donations, and to meet our legal obligations. We do not sell your information, we do not share it for marketing, and we do not use it to profile you. Sensitive personal information — anything about your health, beliefs, or experiences — is treated with the highest level of care and accessed only by those who genuinely need it to help you.

The limits of confidentiality

We protect your confidentiality as our firm default. But we cannot promise it absolutely, and we will not pretend otherwise. Where there is a serious risk to your life, a risk to someone else — particularly a child — or a legal duty placed on us, we may have to act on or disclose information. In South Africa, certain matters must be reported to the authorities by law. Wherever we can, we will talk to you first.

How long we keep it, and how we protect it

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, after which it is securely deleted, typically within 30 days. While we hold it, we store it securely, with access limited and protected, and we take particular care that contact with us cannot expose anyone still living alongside a person who is harming them.

Your rights

You have the right to ask what information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it, and to ask us to delete it. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR or your national equivalent. To exercise any of these, contact us at info@theenlightenedtribe.com and we will respond promptly.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will post the revised version here with a new date. This version was last updated 10 June 2026.

Safeguarding statement

Keeping the people we serve safe is our first duty.

An organization that exists to help people harmed by those who refused accountability must hold itself to the highest standard of care. This is our commitment to everyone who comes to us.

Our commitment

The Enlightened Tribe Foundation is committed to protecting the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of every person who comes into contact with us — especially survivors of abuse, children, and adults at risk. Safeguarding is not one policy among many; it is the foundation everything else rests on.

A named, trained Safeguarding Lead

One trained person, with a deputy, holds clear responsibility for safeguarding decisions, so that no concern is ever lost or handled informally. You can reach our Safeguarding Lead at info@theenlightenedtribe.com.

Everyone in contact with you is vetted

Every member of staff, counselor, and volunteer is screened, reference-checked, and — where the law allows — background-checked before they have any contact with the people we serve. We know that those who wish to do harm seek out exactly these settings, and we treat that knowledge with the seriousness it demands.

Clear boundaries of conduct

No one acting for the Foundation may form private or off-platform relationships with those we support, or ever solicit money, favors, or loyalty. The very behaviors we exist to oppose are forbidden among our own.

Raising a concern

Anyone — someone we support, a supporter, a member of staff, or a member of the public — can raise a safeguarding concern, and there is a clear process for what happens next, including escalation to the authorities where needed. Concerns can be raised at info@theenlightenedtribe.com.

Working within our competence

Clinical care is provided only by qualified professionals or trusted referral partners, never by untrained volunteers. When a situation exceeds our role, we refer it onward — including to emergency services when life or safety is at risk.

Our duty to report

Where the law requires it, or where there is serious risk of harm — particularly to a child or an adult at risk — we will act, including by reporting to the relevant authorities. We explain these limits openly so that no one is taken by surprise.

If you are in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services first. This statement describes how we keep people safe within our care; it cannot replace emergency help.
